The Role of 2D Seepage on Sediment Incipient Motion around a Pipeline

Pipelines have been used as one of the main transportation methods for offshore industry, with increasing activities in marine resources recently. Prediction seabed instability is key factors that must be taken into consideration an pipeline project. As first step scour process, sediment incipient motion has intensively studied past. Most previous investigations didn’t consider wave-induced seepage elevation motion. In this paper, two-dimensional was considered to modify conventional Shields number and its associated impact on around trenched investigated. Both flat sloping seabeds are considered. The numerical results indicated a peak or valley modified formed below horizontal flow tremendously vicinity pipeline. Parametric analysis concludes: influence becomes more significant large wave, shallow water shear modulus permeability, larger diameter smaller gap ratio. This will make soil particles easily dragged away from seabed.
